Aren arrives in this world wearing his pajamas, carrying questions he cannot answer. Lear gives him a first place to belong: Elsa offers a traveling outfit and a room upstairs, while the other residents notice that this stranger looks nothing like an ordinary adventurer. At night, the sapphire in his mother's pendant sends a beam through the window. Following that call means crossing the sea. There is one immediate problem: the dock is broken.
I wanted that obstacle to involve people. Garran, the builder in the mountains, does not simply agree to come home after a boss fight. He believes isolation keeps him safe. His brother Doran fled during a monster attack, and the hurt between them has grown into a quarrel that the whole town now feels through missing shipments. Their mother Hesta insists on confronting him herself, even though she is ill.
That turns the journey into an escort rather than another recruitment reward. Hesta has her own health and a small personal herb supply. When she collapses at the mountain camp, Garran becomes a guide through the poisonous Fen of Whispering Reeds. He knows the route, walks ahead and waits if Aren falls behind. He does not suddenly become a warrior: his job is to help the player reach the remedy.
The reunion gives the chapter its turning point. The brothers argue while Aren prepares and gives Hesta the Dawnreed. The action that matters is helping her. Their reconciliation then has a practical consequence: the family returns, the workers begin the dock repairs, and Aren is asked to come back tomorrow.
The overnight step is part of the playable chapter. Resting in Elsa's guest room lets the repair advance; returning to the dock reveals the result. Boat travel starts and ends at a physical dock rather than dropping the player onto the world map. Quest stages, escort supplies and the remedy survive saves, so a long emotional chapter can also be a dependable game journey. Beyond the Horizon is still in development, and this chapter is a foundation for the stories that follow.
